The “Hidden Cambodia” conference of 2024 successfully showcased the enchanting coastal regions of Kep and Kampot, capturing the interest of both in-person and online audiences. With ambitions to unveil the hidden gems of Cambodia’s coastline, this event drew 80 onsite participants and 70 online attendees.
Co-organized by the Cambodia Tourism Federation (CTF), the Ministry of Tourism, and other travel organizations, the conference featured insightful presentations by passionate speakers who highlighted the cultural richness, natural beauty, and development potential of Kep and Kampot.
Discover the Unique Experiences of Kep and Kampot
The primary goal of this conference was to shed light on the diverse experiences, culinary delights, and overall tourism opportunities in Cambodia’s coastal region, particularly in Kep and Kampot. David Moons, Digital Marketing Manager at Knai Bang Chatt by Kep West, emphasized how these destinations offer much more than just sea and sand.
Highlighting the region’s stunning landscapes and hidden treasures, Moons pointed out that many travelers often focus their visits on famous spots like Angkor Wat and Sihanoukville. However, he urged visitors not to overlook the captivating cultural sites, pristine islands, outdoor activities, and unique heritage waiting to be discovered in Kep and Kampot.
Savor the Flavors of the Coast
Moons also stressed the culinary delights that showcase the region’s rich flavors, including the renowned Kampot pepper and local salt. He highlighted Amber Kampot, a luxurious resort with breathtaking river views, featuring pool villas that provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation after a day of exploration.
La Plantation, another gem in Kampot, was mentioned as an ideal destination for those looking to enjoy private guided tours, cooking classes, and a deeper understanding of the local culinary heritage.
A Gastronomic and Scenic Paradise
Kep and Kampot are not only stunning beach destinations but also culinary havens. David Moons described the area as “the best of both worlds,” offering visitors beautiful beaches alongside exquisite gastronomy. He emphasized the combination of elegance, tranquility, and unique architectural experiences available throughout the region.
Through his project at Knai Bang Chatt by Kep West, Moons expressed his commitment to providing unforgettable travel experiences. Offering luxury accommodations complemented by an array of activities—including sailing, kayaking, and hiking—guests can fully immerse themselves in the coastal charm.
Engaging with Local Communities
Moons highlighted the warmth and hospitality of local communities, stating that many guests are moved not just by the stunning landscapes but also by the genuine connections they form with the people.
Support for Local Art and Culture
Concluding his presentation, Moons introduced the ‘Art4Kep’ project, aimed at enriching the community through public artworks. With over a million dollars invested in humanitarian initiatives, Knai Bang Chatt by Kep West is committed to making a meaningful impact. The ‘Coral Kingdom,’ a monumental sculpture made of sandstone, will symbolize unity, environmental conservation, and the beauty of the coastal area.
